Snowcrest White paint with Signet Red interior. Comprehensive restoration by noted Corvette enthusiast Burt Brown and Jeff Reade's Culver City, California American Motoring Memories who also owned this car for almost 25 years. The restoration also included a rebuilt and blue printed factory 283 engine. These types of restorations normally cost between $150,000.00 to $200,000.00. Multiple Regional and National NCRS Top Flight awards, NCRS Performance Verification (PV'd) and NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence award. Radio and heater delete purpose built car optioned with auxiliary hardtop, T-10 transmission, 4.11 posi coded for heavy duty brakes and suspension, fuel injection, off road exhaust, dog dish hubcaps, and vintage 6.70x15" blackwall tires. The very rare RPO-684/RPO-687 was a GM/Chevrolet Corvette factory option specifically engineered for competition use of which only 144 were produced in 1958. The RPO-684 included special front and rear springs and shock absorbers, heavier front stabilizer bar, quick steering adaptor, metallic brakes, finned brake drums, fresh air ducting to rear brakes and front brake air deflectors (except very early models). Positraction axle, manual transmission and RPO 579D were required. Documentation includes NCRS certificate (awards), NCRS judging sheets, owner history back to October 1960, title/registration copies back to 1960 all neatly organized in two 3-ring binders. FUN FACTS (RPO-684 and RPO-687 production versus total production): 1957 RPO-684 = 51 produced of 6,339 total production, 1958 RPO-684 = 144 produced of 9,168 total production, 1959 RPO-684 = 142 produced of 9,670 total production, 1960 RPO-687 = 119 produced of 10,261 total production, 1961 RPO-687 = 233 produced of 10,939 total production, 1962 RPO-687 = 246 produced of 14,531 total production. This illustrates that the RPO-684/RPO-687 option was only produced on approximately 1-1/2% of the total production of the 60,908 Corvettes produced from 1957 to 1962. Rare? Yes, rare indeed!!!
